This Sneaky Side Hustle Made $5,000 in 30 Days
There’s a small group of people that shop to make money instead of spending it. This sneaky side hustle is capable of making thousands of dollars a month.
Third party sales online have exploded in recent years. That’s where people buy items on sale then they turn around and resell them on places like Amazon and eBay for a profit.
I decided to give it a try as a complete newbie and you won’t believe how much people paid for some of the things I found that others just threw away.
How Resellers Make Money
I started to notice something interesting about our society, and it’s that most of us live wastefully.
There are studies that show the average American spends $18,000 a year on things that we don’t need.
Anything from designer clothes to toys to the latest gadget that comes out and the list goes on and on.
Because of this trend, a side hustle has emerged that’s making people thousands of dollars a month and some have started doing it full-time.
That something is called “retail arbitrage” and “online arbitrage” which is a fancy way of saying you go out and buy something for cheap then mark it up and sell it for a higher price.
The ripple effect to peoples wasteful spending causes a lot of people to overspend to the point where they’re in desperate need of money.
That’s where you start seeing garage sales pop up, or people start donating things to thrift stores.
These are the things that resellers take advantage of but that’s not all, even major retailers go through the same cycles.
Let’s say that the season is starting to change, winter is coming up and a store has to get rid of all of their summertime apparel.
What do they do? They’ll cut their prices to 50%-75% off just to get people to buy it to clear out room for their winter inventory that’s on the way.
And resellers will visit these stores to buy discounted items and sell them for a higher price online through platforms like Amazon or eBay.
How I Became a Reseller for Free
Once I learned about this sneaky side hustle, I had to try it out!
So I signed up for a free seller account on Amazon and on eBay and then instead of buying items I just looked around my house to see if there was anything I didn’t use anymore.
I found an older version of a PlayStation, a few pair of shoes that I barely wore, and some clothes that didn’t fit anymore.
Then I started taking pictures of them and listing them online to see if I got any bites.
After about a week I got my first order, and then the day after I got another order, next thing I knew I looked up and I sold over $500 worth of stuff.
How Much Money I Made as a Reseller
Even though I was excited about making those sales I still hadn’t truly gone out and found something at a cheap price and sold it for a higher price online.
So I started going to some garage sales around my neighborhood and visiting a couple of thrift stores to see if I could find anything valuable.
That’s when I came across something that got me absolutely hooked on reselling
I was out running errands and on my way back home there’s a local thrift store I’d never been to before.
When I walked into the store the toys were on one side and on the other side were clothes and shoes.
I started looking through the clothes and there was this sweater that felt like quality material so I pulled it out and it just looked different.
I decided to buy it because after all they were only charging $2.99 and then when I got home I made sure to take a few nice pictures and posted it on eBay.
It was listed for about a month, but one night I was watching TV and then I got a notification from eBay that I sold the sweater.
Somebody paid me $125 plus they paid an extra $15 for expedited shipping and I only paid $3 for it.
It turns out, this sweater was an extremely rare luxury piece of clothing!
After that sale I started spending all of my free time reselling products. Anything from electronics to household goods to clothes to toys.
In one month as a reseller, this sneaky side hustle made me $5,350!
